Hello and Happy New Year to everyone !
i got my hands on some cash and i'm moving forward with the GT conversion....what i'm looking for now is SIDE, TOP and FRONT blueprints for THE REAR WINGS...the ones above the weels...i have a guy in town that does amaising things with fiberglass and he will make me the rear wings...but i want them just like the original ones...so i want to provide him with good reference....
Anyone got mesurements or blueprints for the rear arches ? _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

ok i'm not going to make another thread for this....
I'm about to install a Carrera GT body kit on my 924
my question is: how do i mount the rear flares ?
do i have to cut the stock flares up to the inner wing to make a round hole for the weel ?
like this ? ....i think this is the only way to go so the 15" or 16" weels wont touch the original fenders...

Not an expert on this but from what I have seen you have to cut the rear flares up a bit. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Someone posted a great set of photos showing the mounting of the rear flares a year or so back but I can't find them. I'm thinking it was Vince Ponz but I can't be sure. Hopefully whoever it was will see this and repost the pics. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Yes they were my pics. Yes, I cut the wheel wells up about 3 inches and welded them shut and just for good luck fiberglassed over them on the inside and out.
The fit on the flares being FG will be off somewhat. I shaved the flares to fit and them glued them on and screwed them on.
As for rockers to look like 944 I used baseboard heating panels which are exactly the correct size. I flattened the top of the panel and welded them to the bottom of the ridge under the door and cut the sides to fit. Then used undercoating from Porsche .....shuss.....which leaves a pebble grain finish and then painted them and they came out perfect.
Need help PM me. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

This is a similar article but for a 914...
For my installation (944 rear flare) the wheel tub needed to be extended, as vince said he fiberglassed over the gap, stops and debris/stone from filling up in the bodywork... very important that this is done.

Vince
are those pics still available? They would make a great basis for a how-to. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)
