Ok so after seeing lufwerks t1 engined 924 it got me thinking, I am not going to be able to afford another 911 again, even rotten shells have gone through the roof (should never have sold my 69T)
I happen to have a spare 2.2l T spec 911 engine and gearbox floating around in good condition, sooooo
a cheap 924 turns up, me and a mate bought it site unseen unrunning for 12+ years but came with a brand new front screen for ,
my mate has a petrol LT and the 924 has near double the HP so we are swapping the motor into that,
that leaves me with a $300 rolling shell (with a new screen haha)
so looking at it, its slightly longer in wheelbase, similar track, similar weight to a 911 and only a couple of HP difference in the engines, realistically it should drive like a 911 but handle more like a super bug LOL
heres a quick mock up
plans will go along the lines of the luftwerks car, prob end up going white too as its the best colour for a 924 even though I don't really like white,
if I don't cop too much flack I will update my build here rather than spatter it all over the place,
for the record its an auto, has lots of bondo and apears to have been swiped down the drivers side and badly repaired at some stage (easily fixed properly) so its no real loss to the 924 world, I wouldnt wreck a decent car,
cheers Russ... |

Don't do it for us, do it for yourself. So many engine swaps to nowhere, so we're watching and waiting to see progress.
Personally, I'd fit it in the nose (it's been done) and keep the car's balance and utility. _________________ Stefan

Don't worry about a lack of response. No one ever responds to my post but I don't let it stop me. |

Rus, think you're pretty safe in engine transplants, the performance section has been poluted somewhat from its origins....
It will be interesting seeing the progression of the car...

for the Aussies m over in Albany in the south of west OZ,
Im doing it for myself as mentioned I cant afford a 911 anymore so Im going to have to make do,
thanks for the interest guys,
as for balance it wont be too far off a 911, and I never had any issues with the rear being too heavy on my 69, it didnt have enough power to get me into trouble haha
as stated its about the same track but marginally longer so this if anything should help handling,
I will keep you all posted,
cheers Russ... |
