I'm curious to know what people are getting for mileage these days. Please state the year, turbo, na, any modifications, and approximate driving style. On my '78 na daily driver I'm getting 23 mpg driving 15 miles on the highway to town and 10 miles or so in town. I don't know what the highway mileage as I haven't done a long road trip since I installed a new odometer gear. _________________ Later, Dave E. |

i think i get about 15L per 100 km in town....and somewhere around 10% maby under outside town....its a euro 1983 924 NA...no serious mods that would affect milage...usualy i change gears under 3000 RPM but once in a while(maby once at 3-4 days) i hit it hard. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I'm getting 30mpg and I generally change gear by 3500rpm, but I hit it hard quite a bit of the time. That's on 10 mile journeys at about 50mph most of the way. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

Last tank was bang on 10 litres per 100km. Or 24mpg.
One hard (but short) session but mainly cruising. Generally shift up early, 'bout 3000-3500rpm. Except in first, usually run that out 4000-4500rpm 'cause it's a really low gear. Cruise in fifth whenever possible.
Generally 25+ mile trips. But one longer run down the coast to Indy, about 120 miles round-trip at a steady 75mph.
It's an '81 Turbo. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Last time I was on vacation and checked milage on a nearly spent tank .... I spent just under 7 liters on 100 kms .... (100 kms on the odometer)
That's about 34 mpg ...
I have driven from Grad Dragoman in Bulgaria to Budapest in Hungary without filling gas, and the light didn't come on before Budapest, that's 720kms or so and I then usually fill 50-54 litres, which indicates perhaps 10% worse mileage, which is consistent with the inaccuracy of the speedometer.)
All on highways with little queues, and I like to keep the RPM around 2500-4000, I spend most of the time in 5th gear.

about 350km a tank... but I'm rev happy driver and get stuck in traffic alot...would be 400km if I were doing longer trips with less traffic lights but I'm manging to pull some of that back now with better startup tuning, fuel cut on overun and the next step is to have closed loop operation as there's no oxygen sensor at present.
Look down for modified bit etc...

Same as Khal, 10litres / 100km
Changes are made at approx 3500, I too use fifth gear a lot.
Just for the info, in one of the original road tests carried out on the 924 Carrera GT, it mentioned that at a steady 120km/h it was more economical than a standard 924!

I get a lousy 17 liters per 100 kms in town, medium hard driving, and it gets a lot better on the highway maybe 10 liters per 100 kms.
I am waiting for my new injectors to see if I improve my fuel numbers _________________ Euro 924 1980 N/A

I was doing around 420/450 before the efi conversion on mostly freeway driving, which isn't that bad, now with the cam and head work it went south pretty quick 300/350 on city driving and sometimes 380 but with the supercharger i'm actually on par with the upper limits, around 350 and improvement on that with better tuning.
Don't get me wrong it goes like a rocket now... and I'm fine with the extra fuel loss as I'm riding my bike to work most of the time now but boost does cost in fuel. I reckon if you spent the time doing a hybrid turbo supercharger setup you would see more gains from the economy side and performance.
I need to setup for closed loop too. This I believe is worth another 50km's... which should put me back near the 400's... BTW I've seen heavily modded WRX's doing 250 to a tank...
and I like to drive it hard...
