I'm looking for opinions on whether I should sell my car whole or part it out.Anyone that has parted one out before let me know if it was worth the time and hassle of dealing with the general public.TIA,Leigh.
Keep in mind that the car runs fantastic.I'm just looking to get back as much money as possible from it.(I have reciepts for $17k,yikes!)

After all that work you're gonna sell it?! Why?!

(BTW, did you see the supercharged Lexus V8 in the Miata in my Indy thread?)

I guess part of the reason is that it's now finished.Everything I can do to it anyways. It needs some very minor bodywork and a paint job and it'd be awesome.Mechanically it's as close to perfect as possible.Ask Lizard about all of the new parts on it,like just about EVERYTHING.Also i'm just starting a new career and between that,my girlfriend, friends and just life in general I don't have time to "play" with it anymore.Next spring I plan on selling my house in Richmond and moving into Vancouver proper, probably into an apartment or loft,so I won't have space for a second car.
To make things fair to the Porsche i'm also selling my truck.

All i want is one new(er),nice little street car.(Read:Turbocharged 2006 MX-5 GT)

I would buy it from you but I barely have any money and I'm guessing you would want a lot for it.

didn't you say there was something wrong with the fuel injection system that you couldn't figure out?

Nope.It was a vacuum leak that niether Lizard nor I could find before. The O2 sensor is unplugged now also to bypass the Lamda system and the car runs great.Passed AirCare with flying colours.I would be looking at getting around 7K for it if your interested. It'd be a good car for you Tim as there is nothing mechanical left to do to it,just plug yourself in and press "play" !

If you've really got 17k in the car and can get 7k in a sale, it must be a pretty nice car. Why are you even consdering parting it out??

(FWIW ... I don't think you will get 7k unless the paint and interior are in really good shape).

The interior is perfect. It's black.New carpet, headliner, seats, polished gauge bezels, short shifter and a mint set of rear 1/4s from an 86 924S,courtesy of Mikri184 back in the day.The exterior is ok.It's never been in an accident and still has the original paint,Mars Red.There is a small dent from my knee on the front passenger side fender and a small dented area on the driver's side door from a moron backing into it,insurance said it was $300 dollars damage, but I have a perfect set of doors to put on before painting.

I'm sure it would be a great car for me but I have nowhere near 7k

if you sold it for 5 grand (which is how much I'm saving up) and still had it in 4-5 months then I would consider it but you probably want to sell it asap.

post pics of your car I'm just interested in seeing how nice it is. Must be a really nice 931...
