Ok so i went to the store today.. parked in the parking stall.... and pulled out after going to the store, some guy comes close to me so i turn the wheel hard over to get outa the way for him and allow him to take my stall... during this the engine like jumps, it goes low to about 100-200 rpm then i know to fix it i let the wheel go and let it spin back to a little more towards center, rpms instantly go back to 800... but i hear a funny rattling noise.... i come to a stop at the stop light and there it is again....

the only way i can describe this noise was when my compressor of my saturns a/c unit froze solid and stoped, burned up the clutch and spread metal thoughout the cooling system... (YAY!!!)... that was characterized by a rattling when the a/c was off... this time with the porsche its only when the car is idling at a stop light and sometimes as i push the gas as i leave the stop light or let off the gas to slow down it starts...

side note: it also feels a bit rougher in the 3000-5000 range....

i pulled the car over... looked at the belts... couldnt really tell much... everything was still running fine.... i limped it to my friends house, ate dinner limped home and parked it out front... sounds like shes gonna be parked there for a while till i figure this out

my guesses: maybe i blew the bearing on the waterpump? causing the waterpump to make a rattling noise?

Did i "skip time?" and mess somthing up extremely badly??

someone help please, this poor 924s only has 58,000 on her...

Is the noise coming from the power steering pump?

How did you check the timing and balance shaft belts?

i checked them basicly as making sure that they werent like shaking the engine apart... the noise is comming from what i can tell the area under the engine, theres a belt that runs off the timing belt that goes to a diffrent componet, to the bottom left of the engine, im guessing that is where the waterpump is located, thats where it sounds like it is comming from...

actually the second belt which runs down to the lower passenger side of the engine is the balance shaft and belt,

Also what is your oil pressure like?

if you wish to verify that it is or isnt the balance shafts then take the rest of the covers off and remove the BALANCE shaft belt, this is the belt with notches on BOTH sides, dont remove the TB though,
once the balance shaft belt is off start the car, if the noise goes away then you know it is something to do with the balance shafts.

The timing belt is under a 2 piece plastic cover, did you remove it to check the belts?

Or are you talking about the alternator and power steering belts?

Well if you haven't removed any belts, you have not removed the timing belt cover or checked the timing belt.

I can only guess you are referring to the power steering belt, and that your problem is a noisy power steering pump. Advance Auto sells them with a lifetime warranty.
