I'm trying to decide whether it is better to Autocross with Street or R Compounds when the temperatures drop to the upper 40's to low 50s. My street are Dunlop SP8000s, and the R's are V700 Victoracers. Anybody hae experiences with R compounds on cooler/colder days? I'm driving with a 924S setup for Autocross.

I'd be inclined to use the R compunds. Although an a-x is pretty short and doesn't really give you any time to get heat in the tires even on hot days, I think the race rubber compound and the tread design is going to give you better stick than street tires, even in cooler conditions. YMMV

I aired them down to heat them up, and it was great.

I use the v700's in the super soft compound for hillclimbs and sprints over here in the uk.

We rarely see temps beyond 40degrees. Mostlyt its well below that and they work just fine.

I run as low as 22psi to get heat into them. With some tyres this would cause problems but the v700 has strong sidewalls and they seem to cope very well.

Cheers
Simon
