My son has an 81 and an 82 924 turbo. What is the best way to keep the gas tank from rusting on the 81 which we are keeping for parts?

Take the tank off, drain it clean the outside of the tank. Paint it with some black rust paint. Store inside with no gas cap as to allow moisture to escape. I hope this will help you.

BEST way is to take it to a tank shop, have the clean it, acid dip if needed, and spray a liner inside to protect it. Have it professionally done and it will last for a long time, open or closed. Cost is around $125 when I did mine. I also have a spare plastic tank from an '82 924 turbo, if you need one.
