Gee, Neil, sounds like you could be best off simply taking the existing FAQ and Tech Section and just continuing to develop them...

Yes using that system, adding new info and putting it in order. I don't hear or see many guys using that page so I didn't want to reference it due to probable lack of knowledge.

I think many don't bother looking. I'm sure there's plenty to be added there, but you know how it is. Hence the sig.

I have always thought "what new guy is going to know what RTFAQ is?"

Having a:
"Frequently Asked Questions"
sticky link in every forum regarding the content of the forum would make it clear and it would remind "us" to update it from time to time.

Yea im gonna try to mix my first one and last one.. i think those three dprods in the top left hand corner of the black one were good. Aand the softness of the first design was good. So ill see what I can come up with - maybe 3rd time lucky

very cool web designs

and for the record, I deep cleaned my garage yesterday .... ! What a load of old junk !

Im now running a very slick operation in my garage... all the tools in the SnapOn chest where they belong.... and I have pared down my collection of 'those odd bits which may come in useful one-day' to just the one chest full !!!

What would the interior pages look like and the skin for the forum. I'll mention it again, that I would not mind doing any of the coding for this if a design is finalized.

If the black design gets chosen, Black background with white text. But as for the froum, i haven't thought of a design for it. Just the 924 Garage. But ill try to make a design for the forum in a couple of days.

Not that I do not support the changes being proposed to the site but this is just a part of what needs to be updated.

When I made this post I was thinking more about updates to the information in the garage, vendor links, R&R and Tech Procedures, and a lot about member project logs, or profiles.

The projects in that section are 4 years old and even those have no conclusions. I would like to see what todays contributors are up to. Like in a running format that we all make an effort to keep and update of our own projects.

Does this make sense or sound interesting?

Changing the format is cool, but I am more interested in changing the content and re-freshing things.

I think that new/organzied content should definitely come with a new look/feel. We need to start ad esign committee. I would suggest that that we create a new Forum Topic and make it only access able to the committee so they can discuss and decide on things like the graphic interface and the navigation structure.

Once the navigation is finalized and that is placed into two or three designs, we post a thread in this topic (General Discussion) and make a poll for the users to choose the design.

From there, we can start coding. I can setup a developing server on my home network if we do not have another place to set up a new site. I can set up developer access to the site via Dreamweaver with check in and checkout functions (if we have multiple developers). But, one step at a time - does a new forum and an appointment of a design committee seem like the next step (design meaning not just graphic, but functional too).
