Just picked up Practical Classics (dunno if this is only a UK mag or not).. not something I'd normally buy, but I spotted a familiar 3 numbers on the cover

There's a full 5 page spread on the 924, covers all models and a hell of a lot of detail. Barely read the article, but it's very much in favour of the cars, especially the n/a! Car in all the pictures looks pristine, has a UK reg - A671 OEL, owner "Steve Lewis" is that anyone here (Khal - was that the same car seen on the track on "Wheeler Dealers" by any chance, not the one they buy, but the other one?)????

Article covers everything and I do mean everything! History, models, bodywork, engines, gearboxes, steering/suspension, brakes, trim and electrics. Conclusion piece sums up the fact that people are finally waking up to what a damned good car the 924 is and always was

Big list of useful addresses and phone numbers but the first one you hit is 924.org - so well done Vaughan, clearly the site is really taking off internationally

If it's not an international magazine, maybe Vaughan could mail them and ask if it's okay to pop a scan of the pages on here for people to have a read through? Their email is practical.classics@emap.com

Good question, I can't remember. I'll have to go watch it again

BTW, I think I've seen Practical Classics down here... somewhere...

You're gonna ask permission?! Man, this is the 'Net! Just scan it and send it!

The one in "Wheeler Dealers" is rego OUF 89W & the owner is Nick Brown, so definitely not the same one.

You can get Practical classics down here in most decent sized news agents, along with 4 or 5 other english classic car mags. Go to borders, or better still the technical bookshop in melbourne and you can get anything, even Morris Marina fanciers monthly, though that comes in a sealed plastic bag for obvious reasons......

lmao!

I'd happily scan the pages and post them if it was a tiny article or an old mag, but it looks like they've put a hell of a lot of effort into this and it's showing the car in a real good light - plus they did link 924.org...

Right, I found a newsagent in town that stocks Practical Classics. But the issue they have has got an MG on the cover with no reference to 924's (what a shock, a pommy classic car mag with an MG on the cover )

Can you tell me what issue number it is? Is it the latest one? Probably just hasn't got here yet...

Its Issue 12, November 2004 Khal.

It has a red Reliant Scimitar on the cover and a small 924 at the bottom.

I went and bought the magazine (hear that Practical Classics? I didn't steal it off the 'Net ) Not bad, nice heads up 5150

Only bad part is it cost me AU$16 (about six pounds fifty...) Dunno what the price is over there but I thought that was a bit steep!

$16!!! Khal you must have bought an airfreighted copy. The mag is about $10 in Sydney. It usually hits the newsagents about 4 - 6 weeks after publication and most newsagents carry it.

Another good UK mag to keep an eye on is "Retro Cars". They concentrate on modified affordable classics like our cars. They did a good article recently on DIY coil-overs based on standard struts.

Yeah, it had a big sticker saying "Latest Issue! Direct via Airfrieght"

Ten bucks in Sydney?! Oh well, live and learn...
