When jumpered "correctly" (15-87), it should only run when the key is in the "start" or "on" position. If it is jumpered between 30-87 it will run regardless of key position.
Based on all this, I'd suggest to you that the relay is bad. Replacing it should solve your problem. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

The problem seemed to be a faulty connection on the wire on the pipe that comes up from the turbo. When I unplug this the car will not run. With a new connector crimped on it runs fine.
At least I have a spare relay ion the glove box now.
So should I now fit a 16A fuse in place of the 8A that's in space no. 2? _________________ 1980 924 Turbo RHD. 3" > 2.5" Stainless straight-through exhaust. |

Yes, I would put back in the proper 16A fuse.
Are you speaking of the boost over-pressure switch, the "wire coming up from the turbo"? It is a ground switch, item "C" in the photo below. I can't remember at the moment if it cuts off the spark or the fuel pump (and/or if it functions differently between Euro and US market). If it cuts the fuel pump, the only way I can see it affecting the fuse, is if possibly it is causing a "surge" as it cut in and out (like light bulbs always blowing up when you turn them on)

I could be wrong but I thought that is working correctly. If I unplug my manifold pressure switch,it should die. I believe it is wired to term 31 on the fuel pump relay. I have my upper end all over the garage right now but I recall not plugging in that switch before and it would not fire.

That is correct, it must be plugged in or otherwise grounded for the engine to fire or run. I was questioning whether it was this connection that Juno was referring to, and if it was, postulating how it might be somehow related to him blowing that fuse. Sorry for any confusion I injected into the thread. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

That's the one - item C. It doesn't cut the spark, as according to my spark tester thing there's always been a spark. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo RHD. 3" > 2.5" Stainless straight-through exhaust. |
