Has anyone thought of or heard of someone putting a Honda Vtec V6 into a 924, or would the Japanese parts start to melt the motor mounts on contact? _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

iirc they spin the wrong way, and they are ment to be a fwd application not a rwd app, I would recommend that if you want to do an engine swap either do it for economy (diesel) or raw power (V other than that imo not worth it, buy a honda if you want that. _________________ 3 928s, |

Argh just got what ya said man. So is it completely impossible to do it or can you do custom work for it? I know it would be a lot but just wondering if it could be done to spin the same way as the 924. |

ah, I just remembered why you wouldn't want to use an S2000 motor, it spins too fast, the power band is like 6k-9k the V-6's have a more reasonable 6k redline so you most likely wouldn't need to change transmissions or gears.
As for the spinning the wrong way, in most cars, you just turn the rear end around. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

as far as it spinning the wrong way, no real way to correct that, in these trannies you cant just turn the diff around, due to the housing isnt going to work,
and as far as the S2000 engine rpm/powerband, wouldnt be overly bad, just a real dog off the line. _________________ 3 928s, |

not to do any ricer bashing here but no they cant make power.
There is something called torque which those things dont make (not without spending Bill Gates cash)
They do rev, and have the HP's; but look at the dyno charts of horsepower and torque and you will see why these people shrivel up into the fetal position and weep softly.
Yes; you can turbo them-- but why put a highly modded honda engine into a different chassis? You could pop in American v8's and drive it with confidence that __if__ it were to break down you wouldn't have to "import from japan over night" kinda cost and time and hassle to get your vehicle back on the road. _________________ Classic British Sports Car Restoration v6 + v8 Engine Conversion Swaps

Haha and the sound of a small block from a 924 would be killer alone. I didn't know they made crap for torque. Interesting. Well it was a good idea anyways. |
