On the driver's seat I have a rip in the seat where the cloth and leather meet. It looks to me like the leather just gave way for some stupid reason. Does anyone know of a sure way to fix it. I don't want to experiment and screw the seat if I don't have to. Thanks.

DO you mean it let go at the seam? Best thing to do is remove the seat. Take the cover off and sew the seam with some good thread. You should also use some backing material to strengthen the joint. Go to a leather repair shop and they will be able to give you the proper thread and materials. Or you could find some one who is selling a new/used original equiptment seat skin.
I sewed mine with good results.

Remove the seat and take it to a good upholstery shop. I had a seam in the drivers seat of my 931 repaired when I bought it 16 years ago and it still looks great today. Cost me $40.00. Not worth the work to do it yourself. |

I did sew mine myself. It does not look great, but looks 95% better than a torn seat. Mine was torn front to back.
Send me an e-mail and I will send you a photo of the seat after sewing. If you can get it sewn for $40 I would just do that though.

I had my drivers seat repaired last summer.
The cloth material was fine, they only replace the black outside leather like material. A perfect match for $75.00.
Good luck
