Hi, I am considering buying a 77 1/2 924 and would like some help
How do you tell if the engine is intended for use with leaded fuel?
And if so, how does it hold up using unleaded?

I'm fairly sure that all 924s were designed to run on unleaded. The only difference with the ones built for North America and Japan where unleaded was a legal requirement was the lower compression pistons and the anti-pollution gear (cat. etc).

My '79 runs happily on happily on leaded, lead replacement and premium unleaded. Do not feed a euro/UK/Aus 924 standard (92 octane) unleaded, it gives them very bad indigestion.

Anyway, the valve seats of all 924s were designed to be unleaded friendly.
