thought you all might be interested/repulsed/angered/amused to see the little toy I've just bought and awaiting deliver of.

It's a Toyota SC14 positive displacement (rootes type) supercharger from a 1GGZE 2 litre 6 cyl. Cost me $300. These little cuties pump 1400cc of air per revolution and weigh 14Kg (say 31 pounds). By running a 1:2 pully (crank to supercharger) you're pumping 2800cc of air from rev 1.

The extra weight is not actually such a bad thing as my 924 is right hand drive and with the engine canted over to the right, any weight on the left side of the engine-bay will have a lateral balancing effect. A fibreglass hood/bonnet/engine cover should help offset the weight of the 'charger and the intercooler. These things heat the air so much that an intercooler is virtually a legal requirement.

If I actually decide to put it on a 924 I'll really need to change the FI to EFI with a programmable EMS. As the 'charger has an electric clutch (like air-con) the EMS can be programmed to activate it when the foot goes down and deactivate it when cruising. Might be fun. I'll have to hit the Merc. dealers and find a "kompressor" badge.

Anyway, this is what it looks like over in sunny Perth http://www.planb.net.au/924/sc14I.jpg

This cold weather is definitely affecting my thought processes.
