Hi,
I have a 1977 924 with the 8 spoke alloy rims. I'd like to put bigger tires on it but I am unsure of what rim size is too big - I don't want the tires to rub on anything except the road.

What is the largest rim diameter and width (front and back) I can go without running into anything(assume low-profile tires)?

What tire brands/models should I look for/stay away from?

Also what kind of offset should I be looking for (is the front the same as the back)?

I've tried researching my questions on this site and www.tirerack.com, and my results have only been inconclusive. Any help from all you experienced 924 owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Jim

look at "my car" I have 17x7,5" et 18 rear/front. At rear i you 25mm spacers. For tyre I have 205/40-17.

I have been tracking my car a 77 924 for the past 10 years with the original setup. I even used the 8 spoke 14in wheels. I changed to the spider web wheels in 15 inches with 205 60 tires and the car performs wonderfully. I still have the revised setup and could not be happier. Spent the extra money on other things.
I have seen 225 on the 15s but don't know if they rub.

The 225's will rub on both back and front. I run 215's on the back, 225's on the front, on 4 lug spiderwebs.
