i'm thinking of selling my 924. i haven't decided what i'm going to get after selling it. Probably a 81 or 82 924 in better condition or a 931 if i find one in good condition which is pretty hard. Possible a 944 if but i need to save more money and find a mechanic before considering a 944.

Anyways i will have to sell my 78 924 first.

I bought the car for 2000 and then i found out it has many things wrong with it. The engine runs fine but the coolant is leaking and possible needs a new water pump which i will probably have to replace before selling.

Also I took the roof down to metal to fix rust but the interior side rust doesn't look permenantly fixable but its not bad right now just surface rust. anyways now my roof is flat black from spray can and the rest of my car is purple and paint is ok , i'm guessing i will get alot less money selling it like that so i will proabably have to spend like 800 to 1000 in paint job.

other thing is my headlights don't close all the way the stick out and they don't fit. This isn't due to electrical problem the headlights just somehow don't fit (the headlight panel hits the edge). But there is an electrical prob too the headlight doesn't operate with the switch.

the car has brand new tires, the front seats have no rip the carpet is ok the dash has a crack. there is a new muffler cus my old one was super rusty.

The car has a 4 speed transmission and i'm not sure if 4th gear works but i have to test it again before i tried it once and it didn't go into 4th gear but i'm not positive yet.

the clutch pedal was very heavy before an i replaced the clutch cable and now it is much better.

the body is is in pretty good condidion there arer no dents on the outside except on one of the headlight panels and no bondo on the ouside except little spot on roof.

There is tiny visible surface rust looks very small on the bottom of a fender.

I don't think this car will be easy to sell so i will have to fix it up a bit and paint it until someone buys it but i don't know how much someone would pay for it.

I want to get at least the 2000 back or maybe 2500 because after paint job and various other things i will probably have spent another 2 grand possible more in fixing it up.

thanks and how should i go about selling it? the buy and sell is good but a porsche 924 is not an easy car to sell because its not a car too many people are looking for.

Sell it as a parts car on ebay. Get your $500 and move on. If you spend a grand painting it, you'll never get it back.

Consider it a lesson learned and start looking for another. Or keep it as a parts car for yourself.

I second that motion.

I think more than one person here has been taught that lesson, including me.

You could also part the car out yourself and make a little more money.

I agree with what the other members have said, sell it now for whatever you can get and stop the bleeding, don't bother painting it or repairing any other issues.
