How much hp can you get from the 924 engine under ita rules or ep with the 40 carbs and 30 mm chokes paco shows a lot of hp but their figures are for the larer carbs for gt class . trying to plan the future also do alot of dreaming ,got the 88 924s its inspected this week and am now armed with novice permit, down at vir it looks like a lot of it cars run but not many e p , the it times are sometimes faster than the e production times here in the sars and mars the its leader was a second faster than any of the cars that ran in production and a lot faster than most ,think he was running some off brand car though , only saw one 944 ep and no 924 in any class Jesse _________________ jesse wall 'new driver' , 87 924s |

I'd say 140hp from the 2.0L ITA motor would be plausible, certainly not more than 150 likely. But that's the ITA motor; you've got the ITS 2.5L. Talk to Jon Milledge, he can tell you what's possible with the motor and how much it'll cost you. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Mr. Scott, if money were no object and you could build a 140HP motor how would you go about doing it. We've decided that instead of building a second car now to build a killer IT motor as a spare over the winter. What do you think it would take to do it? |

To the limits of the rules, blueprinted and balanced, and then dyno-tuned. Main things would be getting the compression and overbore up where they need to be, then balancing the whole rotating assembly. Do what you can to the head, make sure the fuel injection is working perfectly and properly balanced, and tweak the last out of it on the dyno. _________________ Vaughan Scott
