I was drag racing my car against my friends honda prelude si, and noticed my engine starts making a really weird noise at a little under 6000 rpm, I only heard it for half a second (I wasn't gonna keep my car at redline and blow it up just to see what the noise was) , so I don't really know how to describe it, maybe really loud pinging? I also have an exaust leak that rattles and makes noises, could it be that that all of a sudden it just gets really loud at 6000? |

LOL what gas does that require, what gas do you use, and how is your mixture, do the headers glow? |

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet it was an odd resonance... maybe even exhaust... try spooling it up again, see what it's like and if it'll still do it.
Did you balance the rods and pistons? I did so when re-ringing the engine in my racecar (otherwise quite stock), and it has survived numerous over-revs to 7 grand or so no problem. Balancing makes quite the difference.
