Alright, I read all of these posts about putting an Audi 5 cyl engine in a 924. If it works, then could I take my Audi 5 cyl Turbo Diesel engine out of my Audi and put it in my 924? I'm not saying i'd actually do that, but being that the audi turbo diesel and audi gas engines are virtually identical, wouldn't that work? Would probably be one of the only diesel porsches on the road, but it'd get 40 mpg Just curious what you guys thought, I wont try it though I promise.

Not all that far fetched.........I just recently replaced the engine in my Jetta Turbo diesel.....and I was amazed how similar the heads are when comparing the 924 and the VW. Not to say the bell housing bolt pattern would be the same. But if i made a chevy fit...I bet I could make the Turbo deisel fit. Performance wise....hmmmmmm I find the TD very peppy.....maybe with some tuning it would be comparable to the 924 N/A. I agree it would make a great beater/ daily driver!
I will slate it for my next project....................
