What do you guys use to seal the taillights to the body? The factory sealing cord is $72! It's 9mm thick and I haven't been able to find anything this thick. _________________ 84 944--924 Carrera GTS clone w/520HP Chevy 302 V8--RUNNING!

I use 3m window weld. Its a round sealant in a roll and is available at pretty much any auto parts store. |

Same stuff as 3m window weld. It works well. Its very sticky so try to keep it from sticking out from the sides of the lights, it will stick to the body. Its a bit of a nuisance to clean off. |

Would the 3m window well goo/caulk work better than the rolled version? I pulled the tails off of a donor 88 924S and I had to sacrifice a screwdriver to remove what I'm assuming is the factory goo that was surprisingly still sticky on the inside. I might not use the tails because mine work and look good-ish. I'll find out more once I can give the car a good scrub down without soaking the interior.
Sorry for awakening an old post. I am digging in the depths for projects I'm going to be facing down the road _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

I'll be making a reusable seal shorty. As I don't want the hassle of removing the "glue" and usung a new sealent every time I remove my taillights. I could make a couple for you if you want. I'm still in the development stage tho. So it might be a week or two. _________________ Restoring a late 1979 Porsche 924. This is my first car and my first attempt at restoring a car.

I might take you up on that if I end up swapping out the taillights and how well the development process goes for you!!! _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure
