I set my timing today using Smoothie's very helpful guide (https://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=18355). But when I open the throttle, the engine, skips, sputters, dies, etc. I know there are many possible causes for this, but is there somewhere in particular I should start? Vacuum leaks? Air-fuel mixture? Thanks! _________________ Brent

vacuum leaks are easy to check so if it idles, just spray brake clean around suspected areas with care. If idle changes due to spray that is you leak. _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Good advice. Thanks, Mike. I will give this a try. I should also mention that there's a clinking/pinging sound coming from the throttle body (I think) when I give it gas. This might be relevant? The video shows what I'm talking about. Thanks again!

I'm following up on this on the off chance that it's useful to someone down the line. I tracked the source of the sound to somewhere in the CIS/k jetronic system. I'm thinking a rebuild might be necessary. _________________ Brent
