My race car alternator bushings were new when I built the car several years ago. Now they are mush and the alternator is kind of cocked. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to get replacements or should I go with making brass ones?

I bought them from a dutch guy who sells replacements; https://www.924-944-onderdelen.nl/shop/porsche-924-rubber-bushing-voor-dynamo-bevestiging-059-903-263-a-nieuw-boxhp/
As far as I know he also ships internationally, but can imagine that for such a small part the costs of doing so get very steep fast.

The first guy I went to made some aluminum ones as was in a hurry, they wore out quickly. Then went to steel and they are good, now the solid mounting is like the rest of the world uses.

Mike, thanks. I was rooting around below my lathe looking for old brass stock but couldn't find anything. I'll give it a go with steel.

Chuck, If you are making some I'd happy take another set. To me these rubber bushings are not one of Porsche's better ideas. I will grant that being solid will put a little more stress on the alternator and water pump bearings.

I couldn't find any ready made tubing M8 ID, 19 MM OD so I had to order some 19 MM rod. It seems the minimum length is 7 FEET. I need an inch and a half per alternator.

If you've found yourself with that dilemma of too much material, I'd happily pay for a set of solid alternator bushings for both my 924 and 931. I replaced the 924 with stock rubber a few years back but doubtless they'll wear out again in a couple years, and my 931 bushings work but are pretty worn, and impossible to find..

I'd be happy to pay for a set of 931 bushings as well. Been looking for a good replacement for the original bushings for a while.

Jacob,
Can you take pictures of the 931 and 924 bushings? If they are the same, I can make some. My only 931 engine is buried in a storage bin and I know that the alternators are located on the opposite sides of the engine. It may be a different mount/bushing????

Eddie, sounds like someone already made an improvement on your engine.
