Will need to improve surface finish a bit which is easy enough

This link does not work for me for some reason.
Amazing effort!

That's funny. Worked for me last night and now it doesn't!

I only tried it there because Vimeo wouldn't upload. I'll figure it out. The Al Torque Tube 9000rpm test and run-in might go to YouTube

Thanks! I just want to contribute something even if it can be a bit off the wall at times. I feel like I am a piece of the total puzzle with everyone here filling in the the other pieces. I'm constantly learning from you other puzzle pieces , thank you!

Can anyone help me with an equivalent available for this kit? https://www.123piecesderechange.fr/pieces-auto/fa1/p-14467972

The problem is that I can't find it available anywhere.

Just search “k26 rebuild kit” on eBay, but it won’t have the 931 specific exhaust gaskets..

The parts inside were easy to find. I only find the connecting parts individually at the Porsche dealer.

An idea of a thermal protection shield for exhaust.

Had an idea to measure the backside of each wheel fitted in their respective housings after my last machining pass. The magic happens when new 2667 curvature machining starts to clean up the previous 2664 curvature almost entirely....The wheel backside to housing dimensions are essentially identical. This means it should be bolt on from here on out

it works! Working on getting a video up for you to see (what a convoluted way to get it to Vimeo but here it is)

https://vimeo.com/519169595

This is the wheel put into the housing before assembly showing the wheel curvature following the newly machined housing. I assembled a turbo loosely and it spins. Bore camera shows it right up on the housing as it should be. Might need to adjust clearance but it's going to work!! Man am I glad I don't have to machine a custom back plate with a strange slope which at one point I thought might have to happen

When you put all that time and effort into something, not sure it will even work, when you finally get to the point where you know it’s actually going to work, is a great feeling..

“It Works!!”

Congratulations

Thanks! I can only imagine what it felt like for you when you got the FrankenCIS up and running

I'm such a doofis... I just realized the why the housing flat part of curve plane to inner mount flange differs by 2mm. The wheel tip heights differ. The S1 is deeper because the curvature plane is deeper into the housing (the flat part where the curve ends).

Found the m7 left handed nut I needed in one of the two Mellet rebuild kits I have so on to assembly

I'll leave you with this and apologies for the scan powder on the wheel. Too lazy to remove and don't want to loose the balancing 'heavy spot' mark on the wheel. It spins freely even without the o-ring so it isn't centered perfectly

Interesting little indicator runnout study. 0.0001" (0.00254mm)

Old used/worn bearing (not that old actually but turbo was damaged by debris through the turbine). Something like this can cause unstable operation no matter how well it is balanced

https://vimeo.com/525561438

New bearing is so sweet

https://vimeo.com/525561916

Also been noticing the spec for the turbo bearing housing is supposed to be 0.630" with the bearing at 0.629" but my bearings are 0.630 or a bit under and the housings are much larger 0.6315 to 0.6325+ inches.

Contemplated making my own bearings until I pulled my third housing and it fell closer to 0.631" It was older and untouched. I have never been a fan of sand blasting because of what it does to toleranced surfaces. Between that and bearings spinning in housings I am sure they loosened up over time... beware

360 thrust washer. Fully rebuilt and being assembled. Everything new including turbine/shaft which has the left handed 7mm nut. Self tightens which is cool. Housing selected from a small pile to get best bearing housings. Destined for CS. Will move to that thread with this

Bypass Valve Gasket
Blow Off Gasket
Turbo Re-circulation Gasket

Whatever someone might search for it as....

Need two per turbo

930 110 149 00

Sometimes called 'Air Box Gasket' is 930 parlance. Sign of it going bad is a Clickity Clack sound

In my case simply rebuilding. Good simple while I am here anyway

Also, piston can wear in some poorly treated cars.
