I'm doing a new clutch after an engine rebuild, got in my new clutch disc and it will not fit in my pressure plate. The center hub is just slightly larger than the inner diameter of the pressure plate. Were these plates changed or updated further down the line? The company I bought the disk from swear up and down it is the correct one. The pressure plate is out of a 87 924s. I was simply planning on reusing the pp with a new bearing because the car sat for decades after having the engine blown at 15k miles. Is it possible it was an early model 924s that used a different pressure plate???

Basically, I need to know if it is the disc that is wrong and I got screwed or if I just need to get a newer pressure plate.

The disc is a Sachs, with part number 1878005702 ( I cant find much info on it at all when searching the part number)

The pressure plate is the stock Sachs with part number 302055099

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated before I just take the hit on clutch disc and order a new one.

Can you post a picture? I'm having a hard time visualizing the fitment problem you are describing. The pressure plate is installed with the throw out bearing attached.

Are you saying the disc is hitting the bearing? Did you find the label on the disc that indicates which side faces the engine? Might be in German...

In answer to your other query, all 2.5 non turbo clutch packages should fit your 924s (it is a post 86 car, right?).

And to be clear, the car your working on is a 924s.?

In 86, the engine changed from a 2.0 to a completely different 2.5. The clutch parts are not interchangeable.

I don't think that Sachs number is correct.

Here's a very good disc for your car:
