Dropped off the car yesterday to get repainted, should have it back in 3-4 weeks.

Took the chance to rebond the rear hatch and should have my video of the work out on Friday.

The car has been gone for one day and I already miss it!

How are you going to reattach the hatch? I've read numerous attempts but 90% seems to be unsuccessful.

you going to delete the side markers?

you should also upgrade to the late rain gutters while youre at it.
I have a couple sets if you need them.

You're gonna have to wait and see the video to find out!

Just kidding, I'm using 3M windshield adhesive(WindoWeld) and clamping it for probably 3 weeks. I've used this stuff in the past and it's crazy sticky and strong. It's meant to hold glass in place and is the factory sealant for most windshields nowadays.

Decided to keep the OG marker lights, just easier. What do the later model rain gutters look like? Do they attach the same way?

I'd thoroughly research what ever you use from people who have "tried" before
obviously more in the 944 forums. Personally im contemplating using J/B weld (since nothing else seem to work)

The late gutters are nice and smooth and look flush, they don't have the "channel" look.

you have to drill a couple holes in the pinch weld that where the roof and body meet. the early gutters are just pushed on, the late ones have these little clips, that you just pop rivet in.

you can punch the holes at a later time, and paint the late gutters off the car. just pop the current ones off before painting (the just pull right off)

Finally I'm taking the car back apart and prepping for paint (again) and the hatch has come back off and is getting resealed. This is a HUGE pain in the rear but needs to be done. Driving the car to the paint shop in the CO winter with no back glass, no heater, and no hatch was COLD!

That's awesome! Wish I had seen that before doing mine, would have made clamping a lot easier.

Car is still off getting painted, but that doesn't mean I don't have things to do.

1. I noticed the lighting in the car is pretty bad, so while the tail lights are out I'm installing the only944.com tail light modification that adds a second bulb for stop lights. Plus it gives me a chance to polish up the lenses.

2. The rubber bumper over rider bolts snapped off when removing them, so I need to weld some studs on there and renew the rubber.

Mike, I'd be interested in seeing what they look like for sure. Shoot me an email at autoanatomy@icloud.com and i'll see about getting together to look at them.

Anyway, here's the video. https://youtu.be/uA9b1jqQkA4

So...I ended up taking it to Maaco and they did an AWESOME job!

Here's the video...

I've got to replace the blower motor, the interior, and figure something out about the clutch and front valance. But it's so close to being done!

Thanks everyone! It's the original color, Indiana Red Poly. Ordering new seat upholstery from Only944.com on Monday, original plaid going back in!

So I ended up doing the dirty...I pulled the dash to replace the blower motor. That is no joke...it was a solid 12 hrs to change out the motor, you'd think Porsche would have made it a little better engineered design.

Here's the video: https://youtu.be/NAgKnVIqAVc

But it did give me a chance to put on the coverlay dash cover. But it also exposed the frailty of the factory center console. Merely taking out a couple bolts caused it to crack even further. If anyone has a brown center console for sale, let me know!

Great video. You have a lot of patience. Any idea how long it took to just remove the dashboard? I'm thinking about replacing mine.

I'd like to replace the carpets as well. Looking at the interior with the dash/center console removed...seems like that would make it a whole lot easier to do the carpets at least in the front of the cabin.

I have not found new replacement carpet in that color. I wrote to Thomas at werk924...he offers red, black and brown. At the time the price was $1199 USD for the carpet kit and $449 USD shipping(!).

Edit: Looks like he has grey carpets now too: https://werk924.com/shop/armaturenbretter-dash-boards/

World upholstery and trim (https://www.worlduph.com/porsche/924_944_968/) has a carpet kit for ~$900. They sent me these samples, but nothing matches the original color exactly.
