I've always wanted to install the entire driveline as an assembly, factory-style, and I finally did it.
It was ridiculously easy with a jack under the trans and a cherry picker raising the engine. For a serious restoration project, I think I'd recommend the procedure as the standard approach. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Sorry, no pics. Ever since Photobucket screwed the universe, I've stopped documenting projects like I used to.
The process was easy...I raised the tub on for a jack stands as high as it would go. I then slid the engine under the nose of the car and bolted up the torque tube to it, with a little bit of help from a floor jack raising the transmission end. I then bolted on the gearbox.
Once everything was together I raised the engine end of the assembly with a cherry picker and raised the transmission end with a floor jack. It was ridiculously easy. _________________ Toofah King Bad

O_O Wow that's cool. Sure looks simpler to drop/reinstall the whole kit and kaboodle than to deal with each part separately, contorting hands and limbs to get those last two upper bolts... _________________ 1980 Porsche 931

Indeed, and so much easier to align the clutch when the engine and tube are on the ground. _________________ Toofah King Bad
