Just noticed an enclosed, pre-built Microsquirt with 8' harness is all of $399USD on Amazon!

Anyone know of any reason why this wouldn't work on a 931? Ready to get rid of my CIS and get reliable, get back to enjoying my car. Not a really extreme build; will be adding an IC as well, but seems like this would even be happier running just triggering the stock ignition unit, just eliminate the flaky stock crank position sensor and ignition controller... _________________ Vaughan Scott

I’ve built 3 cars using MS2. If I remember correctry Micro and MS1 could do either spark of EFI. Not both. But I might be wrong. _________________ ---

It should be possible to get that to work with some effort, a good deal for sure. Alot of stuff needs fixing to go full efi and spark, probably more than people first think.
I would really like to build a car with the speeduino system, a very clever open source system with a great community. Theres already one guy on this board that has started such a project. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I’ve switched completely to Ecumaster, no more new projects based on MS. They are present in the EU and US as well. My last project https://youtu.be/EC1cGT3wNy8

I read somewhere Raceboy was offering a plug and play VEMS EFI set up for 931. I have a microsquirt on my 931, kinda..
The hard parts will be, crank pickup trigger wheel, fuel rail, and TPS.. I think..
I have a good TPS/big TB solution for S1 though and will tell you all about it if you want..
I'm pretty sure microsquirt will batch fire 2 banks of injectors and 2 banks of coils just fine to run the 931..
And it is a bit cheaper right from DIYAT

But IDK about shipping..

Thankfully, mine's an S2, easy peasy just swap out the TPS with a modern sensor. Actually have some Ford ones sitting on the shelf unused, might be good enough.
Already have the WBO2 installed and functional; fuel rail on the shelf, and hope to grab one of Dan's trigger wheels in the clearance section... maybe a bracket too, but that'll be easy to fab if needed anyway (compared to others). Then a good fresh MAP sensor etc... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Another thing I'd like to say is this probably isn't a quick scheme to make a reliable DD..
If you are going to take over your CIS and ignition at the same time, it's might be complicated just to get the thing to start for the first time.. Then you are talking about hours and hours of tuning and learning..
Do you or anyone near you have experience setting up and tuning standalone?
Ignition and fuel, and my map will be useless to you..
I can literally unplug my microsquirt and my car will still run and drive, so it's not like I've gone through all that completely.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

Some have tried MS on 951's and have blown their engines, at least from 5+ years ago. Something about losing crank position.

Yeah, I'm definitely not worried about our technical capabilities; my day job is SW development, calibration and testing in-vehicle for Bosch. Just not on the Powertrain side, and I have access to many who have powertrain calibration experience, OEM and aftermarket.
Gotta love the Motor City.
