That does indeed look like what the KTS 2658 is all about reducing the clearance from 0.7 to 0.3

Where would you go to with a well balanced well maintained mostly track car?
0.5?

This is the car BTW.

What is the 1.6? Some DOHC 4 valve that flows very well and revs real high?

Depending on how your engine flows you may even be under the efficency island of that compressor no?
Well, you can plot your stats on that map to be able to figure out what direction moving the efficency island would be best for your situation..

With our poor flowing 2.0s 14psi is only just beginning to take advantage of that big turbo, and I would think one might be better off with a smaller turbo if running any less than that..

I have ran the 2660, 2664, and 2667 compressors on my car so far (kkk #s) and am running the 2670 right now..

The 2664 is plenty for 14psi on my engine but I can tell the 2667 is cleaner in that range, and have taken the 2667 to 16-17 psi so far with no signs yet of it falling off..
I think it will carry me to 1.5 bar but getting up there would probably benefit from another step bigger compressor, like you are talking about with a billet wheeled 2670 compressor..

But it seems you have a better flowing, higher revving, but smaller engine than we do, so IDK..

Remember that running 1bar boost in the manifold actually ends up probably above 2,1-2,2 PR for the turbo or even more depending on what pressure drop you have into the compressor and in the IC system. I would say the 2670 is pretty well matched to what the tries to achieve.

Really great info,

The engine is just a Miata 1.6 not super great in the flow or revs department.
I used VE figures of around 90% in Matchbot.

It has run up to 18psi but bring it back to 14psi for track use.
Between 4000 and 7200 it is OK but I would like more responsiveness in that rev band. Above 3700 is all I really care about as the car weighs in under 600kg and is not a daily driver shall we say.

I was thinking of fitting an EFR6258 but would like to see what I can get out of the K26 first.

So what do we think KTS 2664 or KTS 2658 or do we think it would be fun to mod the compressor housing and try the KTS 1623 with its smaller post and increased blade area?

Anyone have any comments on using these 2.7mm superback wheels in a 2.1m backplate recess for the standard flatback cast wheel?

Housing looks like a #6 944 turbo. Its definitely not 924 turbo. I assume you have a complete 944 turbo? Same core, difference compressor and turbine housings. 924 turbo has 3 bolt flange on the turbine. 924 turbo has integrated bypass valve on the compressor housing.

Superback wheels only on 944 250bhp turbo, not 220 iirc? Not used on 924

Thanks guys, Can confirm, I spotted the "6" stamped on the intake of the turbine housing.
So we are thinking that I may have the 220hp rather than 250hp compressor housing (5326 151 5213) and back-plate (5326 151 5710)hence why my OEM wheel is a flatback not superback?

And this might explain why the KTS 2663 and KTS 2664 drop in replacement billet compressor wheels are superbacks rather than flatbacks?

Guessing my wheel is actually a 5326-123-2038 rather than the 5326 123 2201 I have been thinking it was? See the list of flatback and super back wheels here https://www.turbomaster.info/eng/applications/compressor_3k.php

Is anyone able to confirm the part numbers for the 250hp compressor wheel, compressor housing and backplate with the super back?

Um...

What are the numbers on the tag on your turbo?
The CW part #s are on the back of the wheel..

I can't get a hit on those turbine housing part #s but I would have much better luck with the tag numbers such as "5326-970-6407 K26-2664G4.10" now that I have found my part number PDFs..

Actually... I have a 951 k26/6 turbine housing here in my hands, I just dug up to look at, and I can tell you that your turbine housing is NOT one of them..

The turbine input flange is much different, with the 951 turbo having a round input while yours is like a rectangle.. So it is not a 951 turbo at all..

The 5710 superbackplate is from 250hp 951 and 959. The late 951 also used 5713 superbackplate that also could be found in Lancia S4 and Audi RS2. Since the compressor cover is late 951 I have to asume the compressor wheel is a 2201. The turbine housing is not a 951. Donīt think it is an Audi since they usually have round inlets as well (Porsche had rectangular inlets on K27 IIRC.). The #6 start to create some serious backpressure over 250hp, but that is not an issue since you got 16V and mild cams. Wouldnīt bother serching for a #8.

The Audi 2202 superback would fit your compressor plate, but need a new housing. Doubt that it would result in any gains though. Similar tech.
Is the MB 2207 compressor wheel of interest? 68,5mm extended tip differs from the 951 wheel. Same inducer size. A modern dieselwheel with a better map.

The largest K26 superback is the 5326-123-2209 with an inducer of 54,6mm from Volvo Penta 5326-970-7700, by the way

Man you guys _really_ know your 3Ks!

I wouldn't be surprised if it is some kind of Blitz hybrid. It came from Japan originally. The CH doesn't have 5326 number on the tag interestingly. The backplate has 5326 710 0521 on it which gives us the center housing.

Do the flatback backplates have a recess in them? I wonder if I have the wrong compressor wheel in there? No part # on the back of the wheel unfortunately.

I have been talking to KTS (boy they are helpful!!) And it looks like the custom big inducer version of the KTS 2652 marine application, AKA the 2658 might just work.

The only thing it is missing besides the back side mods being a flatback is the slim nose. An 11.84 mm nose would have made it perfect.




Also the tip heights are tricky to match with the extended tip designs. But it looks like the 2658 is actually within 0.1mm of the OEM I have here.





This is the 2D for the 2658. What is the easiest way to generate one of these from the OEM wheel I have now?
