Started a new thread for my build because ive got no clue what im doing with it atm. Got itbs, bike carbs, supercharger laying around atm.

When i was taking intake manifold studs (which are in cylinder head) off i broke 1 of the studs so now i have to get the head off, get it machined and replace the hg and put this all s*** together. Thats why im calling it 1 stud build because all of this is because of it.

This is my first time ever taking a really anything bigger off than waterpump from my 924 because its been very "reliable" track car.

Tried taking off the exhaust before pulling the head but my knuckles already said no to that. And lost my 13mm somewhere in narnia (rolled down the engine mount).

Ive already taken some coolant lines off, everything related to intake and distributor. Which timing i think i f**** it because the engine isnt tdc atm and i took it off and spun gears. I havent taken the timing belt off because the engine isnt tdc atm.

Ill be posting pictures of this later today, need to tidy up the garage more to pull the head off (need table space). Also i hope ill be finding my haynes manual there.

Step no1 done!

Keep track of TDC on the crank, cam and distributor and it vill go together smoother if you are unsure.

Surely the machine shop would deep clean/put in a parts washer after working on the head before rebuilding??????

Doesn't look like the head has been dissembled or cleaned, based on the crud still on the head and carbon on most valves.
You can fly cut it without removing the valves.

Just out of curiosity why didn't the machine shop freshen up the head while you had it in there? Have you have a valve job, guide check, seals, etc. done very recently?

I didn't have them done, but i think last owner did because he put the aftermarket camshaft in and replaced all the gaskets because they all seemed pretty fresh. I didn't get anything else done to the head because I am disassembling whole engine after next summer's track days and i might be getting turbo cylinder head and forged internals.
