Need a rear hatch gas strut preferably in poor to worn out condition. The new ones are too strong, but a second is needed for stabilizing the hatch.

I ordered some new ones, Sachs SG214008. Same length but supposed to be quite bit weaker for a 1990 Jeep Wrangler 4.2l. Some 944 guy found them. It took 2 days for the hatch glass to separate with the "stock" ones.

The Sachs SG214008 fit perfectly and much less pressure than the stock ones. They were originally intended for a 1990's Jeep. Got them from Rock Auto for about $8 each.

Yep, that was me on another forum and you will find that they hold the glass in place or all the way up, but you will have to lift it up.

Installed them on my S2 way back and the window is in perfect condition.
