Hi, some years ago i had found an original 924 Carrera GT engine that i was intending to install in my 924 CGT replica, as the years went by, i kept it with the NA engine and now planning on an Audi 1.8t transplant. I'm thinking of selling the engine, what would you guys believe would be its value?
Opinions are very much appreciated!

I might be wrong, but I believe that without the intercooler it is just a Turbo motor.

Just a turbo motor unless a CGT owner wants the right engine number/code. The pistons are cast by Kobelschmit for CGT versus Mahle for turbo. Everything else is the same. Does it come with assurance its a good motor? Will it need a rebuild? Only pulling the head would confirm. No one wants to install an unknown engine into their car only to find low oil pressure or knocking bearings. Power difference comes from the intercooler and 937 DITC. Need both to extract more BHP if installed in to a regular turbo. CGT owner may have both already.

Wastegate is the same on all turbos/CGTs'. Value comes from the fact its the same as on a 930

Turbo is OK spec. Most desirable is the #6 turbine housing if not cracked too badly, same as S1 turbo. All used housings will be cracked to some extent. The CGT 2660 compressor isn't bad but not as desirable as an S2 2664. So value depends on quality and if re useable without rebuild

How rare are these things really?
Also being on S1s I would think not too awfully rare but I have been keeping my eye out for one for a long time an haven't saw any..

The engine is good, we have opened everything to check for cracks etc. the head seems a bit different from another 931 i have as there are some protruding sleeves on the exterior side of the spark plugs.
https://flic.kr/p/2f7wiY5
Of course the main thing here is the number on the block casting which corresponds to a CGT

Edit,
Turbos are:
K26-2660GA4.10
K26-2470R6.10

Pistons may be slightly different as well.

Kobelschmitt cast pistons in the CGT v cast Mahle in the turbo. Same 8.5:1 CR as S2.

Never see those sleeves before....no idea if original or not. Beyond those, the head is the exact same.

Your turbos are NOT CGT unfortunately. One is S1 and the other is S2 turbo. If you rebuild them and put the #6 housing from the S1 with the 2660 compressor from S2 there you have a CGT spec turbo.

I've seen the sleves before, think it was on a GT or GTS, no idea what they do though.

Just found myself searching my engine photos. Can't see clearly on CGT's if any have them, but most didn't. I have found one pristine GTS with them, all others don't.

My guess is they are interference fit and some owners removed them and didn't refit......or they vibrated out and got removed.

Thanks for the info, this guy has the code K26-2660GA4.10 as a CGT turbo.

https://turbocentras.com/turbo-model/K26-2660GA4.10

I don't think i'll do the trick you said, i'm thinking of selling both turbochargers and getting a Garrett ball bearing or staying with the one that comes with the Audi Engine.
Actually, i will be giving the waste gate and k-Jetronic + Bosch ecu, fans, shrouds, oil pipes etc as i have no use for them.

The info is incorrect in that link. Not the first wrong listing, not the last. Click the '931 Carrera' link and it lists K26 2660 6.10 as well as 4.10

924 Carrera GT spec and numbers are.....

K26 2660GA 6.10
5326 970 6023

Compressor housing - 5326 101 5104
Compressor wheel - 5326 123 2007 & 5326 123 2017 & 5326 123 2036

Turbine housing - 5326 100 6328
Turbine wheel & shaft - 5326 120 2107 & 5002

You may get someone to buy both turbos as S1 and S2 versions.
