Lately my alternator belt has been losing tension, and squealing. I'll tighten it back up, and it will be fine for a while, and then it starts again. While messing around with it, I noticed that the rubber bushing in the base of that arm/bracket (the upper end of this is where the top alternator bolt goes, and the bottom, with the bushing, is where it attaches to the block) is not attached to the bracket itself. I can just pull the bracket right off the bushing. I assume it was bonded at one point, and that this is the problem.

I also notice that Ideola's garage used to sell a complete bushing kit for this. Since that shop is now closed, any idea where I can get this stuff, or any thoughts on how best to fix this? I can't seem to find these parts anywhere...

047-903-149-OEM is the rubber bumper with a bolt on each side, per Pelican Parts store when I go to the Battery & Charging section for my 924..

Isn't that an NA 924 part, as opposed to the turbo? I saw that too, and it was listed as compatible with my car, but...I don't see that part on my car, or in the parts diagram for the turbo, with the top-mounted alternator position. I might be just not looking in the right place though...

There are three types of the mounting bushes for the 931and all of them are NLA.

My alternator has no mounting bushes. Its solid mounted apart from the tensioning adjustment. Bushes are only there to dampen any vibration and noise. Least of my issues!

Sometimes I wonder if my alternator mount is missing something in the tensioner department, although I don't see anything in the parts diagrams. With the AC compressor, there's a normal tension adjustment...loosen everything, then turn the adjustment screw until it's good, tighten it all up. Done. With the atlernator, I have to loosen the bolts then use a crowbar or something to pull it into tension, and then have my kid hold that in place while I tighten the screws. Am I missing something? I don't really see a "tensioner" at all. I am prepared to feel dumb here in a minute

That's the normal way to tension, old-school. NA alternator is the same way, only more of a pain to get to...

Yup that sounds right. Replacing the bushes on my Weissach was well more than I bargained for. "Oh, just some alternator mounting stuff.." I said to myself.. Have not yet had a chance to look at the state of all that stuff on the 931 I just picked up though.

CarreraRSR did you have someone mill some pieces for that? Can you post pictures of your alternator mounting?

One of the bushings on mine has gone bad and causes the alternator to wobble a bit at higher rpms. If the rubber is there for dampening only, perhaps we could develop/come up with a solid mounting solution with longevity in mind...

Something like a metal or delrin sleeve for the bolt. A small diameter silicone hose could fit that need as well.

I have sleeved mine with rubber hose; seeing how silicone hose gets abused by hose clamps I don't think it would hold up as well.

But perhaps turning up some softer plastic on a lathe, maybe not as hard as delrin but a bit more manageable, could be suitable...
