I am in the process of replacing the perished rubber for my rear windows ( The triangularish ones). I tried at least ten times by reinstalling and removing the window but have been utterly unsuccessful in getting the metal trim piece to seat in the new rubber. I have tried mounting it before and after installing the window, but no luck

I noticed that the new rubber has slightly different shape/moulding patern . The original rubber has sharper edges, where the new 944 part has rounded edges.

Please share your wisdom.

I didn't bother reinstalling the quarter window trim when replacing the rubber. I did intend to do it, but 4yrs later its still low down the to do list. I understand its easier off the car than on with new rubbers. Old rubbers can be done on the car. But either way, bending the delicate trim is a risk. Lots of lube.....
