Ok I bought a brand new starter for my 1980 924 since the old one would barely turn over the engine, but my new problem is that when I turn the key, sometimes the engine keeps cranking over and I have to disconnect the battery and it turns over incredibly slow with a battery that was tested to be good. I also had one of the battery clamps START MELTING after turning it over for like 15 seconds in below freezing weather. I did run a different ground cable from the frame to the engine (battery cable thick stuff) so I don’t think it’s that. I did also rig the second cooling fan to run the same time the other one does but i did that before I replaced the starter. Any ideas? |

If the starter doesn't disengage you might have a broken ignition lock. |

Yep..
I had the same problem with it not stopping cranking but I just sprayed some oil in the ignition lock cylinder and worked it a bunch of times and haven't had the problem again since.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
