They did not, the sides were extremely clean. It cannot be replicated after it is pulled apart (slight warping, etc...). The only way to do it is to seal it.

I tried and was unsuccessful a few years back, worked OK for a few minutes then leaked like crazy. There is a lot of pressure in a CIS system.
