My name is Rick I'm new to workinh on porsches if you could help me out I have a 1978 924.Ok so here is what ive done checked spark checked the fuel pump its working, checked vacume all good all hoses are new the boot from the intake to the air meatering unit good and tight and fuel diz rebuilt . Now what I have observerd. When trying to turn the car over no start because it cant pull the aire meatering unit oppen. But if I lift it open than it starts I have to keep it open for it to run meatering unit isnt stuck when I crank the plunger is holding the unit down. I think its because there is to much presure I experimented with this I took the banjo from the cold start where it goes into it and bypassed it straight to the return hose after doing that it ran but with low presure so it was excessively rich I tested the cold start valve.12 v and it opened so I'm not sure why it's causing so much presure in the dizzy to hold down the meatering unit

Dude, buy some punctuation.

It is not worth the bother, if you aren't willing to take the time to make your post readable.

You messed up the dizzy rebuild and now its not giving out enough fuel.
Or in the process of rebuilding, you messed with the fueling adjustment screw and now you're either getting too much or to less fuel.

You could also have a bad WUR (warm up regulator).

Before spending anymore money, get a Haynes manual and check your system and control fuel pressures using the proper CIS gauge set.

If the car runs when you hold the plate by hand then try increasing the mixture using a long allen key and turning clockwise, look in the haynes for mixture setting procedure.
Just give it half a turn and try starting it again, if it improves but not solves the situation, then another half a turn and so on.

Agree with Morghen. I would also get a cis pressure tester ( or make one...a few how to's on the board). That way you can tell what your pressure is looking like...then you can diagnose the dizzy vs. the wur.

Good luck!

I appreciate the help guys. And today I realized that when I rebuilt the dizzy I didn't do the presure regulating neadl I remember the plunger was stuck good at wot so I wonder if the neadle could be stuck shut and causing to much presure holding the air meaturing plate down thoughts... And yes I will get a presure tester

Use Locktite 542 on both sides of the metal plate. Spread very thinly with the edge of a razor blade and don't block the tiny holes in the plate.

After you spread it (very thin on both sides) you can bolt the distributor together. There is curing time for the sealant after assembly - I believe it is 24 hours. I don't have the instructions handy.
