|
|
Hi,
I have a really small oil leak on my UK 1988 924S, I haven't been able to get it up on a ramp yet. Looking form the front of the car, the oil leak seems to be coming from high up on the left near the oil filter, it then runs along the roll bar and drips off from the centre of that. Before I start pulling things apart - would there be an obvious leak point in that location (oil filter aside!). Thanks in advance for any help. _________________ Lover of all things Porsche

The oil pressure sending unit and the oil cooler gasket were both leaking on mine. They are both in that area. _________________ 1988 porsche 924s

Maybe the lower balance shaft seal, or balance shaft housing (o-ring) seal are always suspect in my book.
If the leak is very minor, I have used UV dye in the past to help track down the source of a small leak.
Good luck |

It was the oil cooler gasket, one on order. _________________ Lover of all things Porsche

The oil cooler gasket usually leaks antifreeze. Take a look at the oil cooler section of the shop manual here:

It is only leaking oil. I have no milky coolant and no throthy oil, so must be oil side only. _________________ Lover of all things Porsche

It was the oil cooler gasket and the oil pressure sender that were leaking. Both replaced and dry as a bone. _________________ Lover of all things Porsche
