Ok,
I have a pristine 1982 931
I bought it from the 1st owner in 1984 with 1bout 12k miles on it
It came fully loaded, with leather sports seats, 5 lug gold phone dial wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, power window/mirrors etc
I can post a few pics if someone can tell me how!
Now the engine went out on me (due to a bit higher boost, but mostly from a local shops incompetence) in 1986!!!
Its been sitting covered ever since. Every now and then I wash and wax it. But it looks great.
I also back then put in Weltmiester torsion bars, eibach springs, koni low pressure adj shock and rear weltmiester sway bar. Couldnt get the front to fit as it was different than the 924 or 944.
Soooo,,, I have finally decided to go the LS route.
Im doing an LS swap in a truck and they are so simple and designed (the truck ones) to go well over 150k miles. Thats 10 years of full time driving for me, so more than I need and stock 400+ hp
But WILL IT FIT a 931?
Rengade doesnt know, I have to measure the frame they say. I dont think its the same as a 924, but maybe it is? Or is it more like the 944?
Anyone done this swap that I can see or chat with?
Thanks! |

Buy a cheap 924 for LS swap. A pristine 931 deserves a proper rebuilt motor _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Here is an oooold post and some pics of it
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=32581&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15
Its been off the road since 1986 and I want to drive it not work on it. Those days are over for me.
I still have the brand new Ottenger/Mahle pistons, brand new Okrasa stroker crank and custom Carillo rods from the stroker kit I bought in 1985 sitting in the box they came in, all wrapped up. Might just sell them off and buy a conversion kit.
In high school (1979) I had a 1966 GTO
Took out the 389 tri power (and sold that tripower carb setup just 10 years ago) and put in a 454/450hp big block chevy, bored out to about 462, long tubes, liberty built super T10 4 speed, tq cam and intake, 750 vaccuum secondary carb, ported and matched oval port heads.
Put out "about" 600hp, which for the day was fast. Never lost from a roll.
Allot of fun and a sleeper. Even drove it from FL to Maine one summer.
Also swapping in an LS into my Land Rover Defender 90. Much needed tq for the highway and much more reliable.
So swapping in an LS into my 931 that hasnt been on the road for 32+ years is the simplest solution I think. If I wasnt going to drive it much, a 931 with the stroker would be very cool and rare. But I want to be able to take it on roadtrips. In my 928 in 1993 I drove that car from FL to Vegas, then to the Grand Canyon south then north rims, through CO and up to Yellowstone and into Montana (when there was no speed limit) then back to FL. Over 10k miles in just about 30 days. It was a 1979 that I modified, but I had no issues with it. I want this car to be similar, and if I need parts, the local shop will have it.
Anyone recommend someone who can do the swap?
I will provide the parts and engine, just dont have the time to do the work anytime soon, and Im getting old!
Thanks |

You can buy my euro 931 S2 engine and just bolt it on to your 931. Keep it original and increase its performance with the euro engine. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

If you want to do an LS swap you are better off with a 944 or at least a 924S. You'll be wanting a 951 transaxle to handle the torque of the LS. |

Probably true but it'd be a shame to do that to a 931 when there are so many 944s around |

If it has a dogleg trans then it'll hold an LS..
If I was going down the LS swap path I would probably study posts made by v8carreraGTS on this board and plug this into google search { v8carreragts site:944hybrids.forumotion.com } and read what he posted there also.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |
