[Sunset924]

Been raining to no end here as of late, and the 924 has been sitting out side. I went out to the car today to find a significant puddle of water on the driver side floor, tight against the rocker from the mid point of the door opening to the front corner of the floorboard / firewall.

I was unable to determine the entrance point of the water. Passenger side is water free, as are both rear footwells and trunk. hvac vents were closed, and rain tray drains are clean. Car was also parked nose down in the sloped driveway.

Any ideas of where I should investigate would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the drain line going down from your sunroof is clogged/undone, and water is finding its way inside. There are 4 of these, and based upon your description, it sounds like it could be the front, driver's side one.

Can also be the metal drain pipe above the pedal assembly. It can rust out.

Thank you for the suggestions, it helped me find the source.

Non sunroof car (but great suggestion, I was down that path on a Passat I owned... clogged drain tube so the water ran along the outside of the tube right into my fuse panel, what a mess)

So I took my attention to the rain tray, everything looked good there: No issues under the battery, seal around the blower motor looked good, drains were free and clear. no other obvious issues.

Next i pulled the carpet back under the dash, dove under the pedal cluster. I was unable to see any sort of drain tube, however i did notice the rubber grommet for the hood release was pushed out of the fire wall. I had my wife run the hose down the windshield and sure enough it was a steady stream pouring in from that location.

When the water drains out of the driver side rain tray it runs down the back side of the front strut tower directly onto the hood release cable. Cleaned the area, applied a thin film of sealant and reinstalled the grommet... problem solved.

Damn, congrats on the simple fix!!
It can get a lot harrier than that..
I will be taking a look at my hood release grommet just to make sure..

Sunroof leaks, ugh, my BMWs are Terrible..
My Porsche leak was a badly rusted out battery tray..
