ABSOLUTE STUNNER!
No car can not look better than this Italian tarmac super rally car.
Selling at a cool half million USD. I really like the interior of this build (see pics in the thread below), versus the somewhat messy interior of the Lancia, Audi Group B cars.
I give this a 10 out of 10. But 35 years later... in the near future... I will turn the ignition key, with my heart racing and my buttocks a'quiver... to feel ol' "Rough Life Wilson" vibrate & rumble.
And Wilson would give this Italian a run for the money if the opportunity presented itself.

Decided on a low to mid height for the wing. Built these uprights. Need to make endplates. also managed to salvage a broken turbo car rear diffuser and adapt it to work. |

Spa racing mirrors are installed. Wish I never had to mount them to the panels, but it is what it is. I like the mirrors. |

Hood pins installed. Happy with how the hood looks underneath. Had to massage the front fenders a bit. They are NA fenders modified for the turbo front end, but it's not perfect. Anyway, onward and upward... its time to start back working on the power plant, and get the engine running. I have my work cut out for me: engine management and exhaust, and I'm not happy with the charge air intercooler situation. |

I'm considering running without an intercooler.
Something like one of these 968 photos. Remember, my turbo is pretty massive but I'm only going to run enough power for the NA clutch to still handle it (like 220hp?), then next year I'll turn it into stage 2 and definitely run an intercooler. What do you guys think?
Even at stage one with like 5-10 psi I'll be using meth injection and a knock sensor. Also, the pistons are 8:1 951 units.
Or I can run long ass intercooler pipes until I can fit the right intercooler into the car.
The 951 cooler won't fit because of tubular the cross member I welded in.

10 psi and no intercooler is not an issue, especially with a turbo that does not heat up the air too much and if you don't race the car.
But...the main thing is the advance, you cant be running NA ignition and fueling maps. If you get it properly fueled, and retard the advance sufficiently you can surely run without an intercooler.
You just need to be in control of the advance and fueling and of course do the right thing. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Point the compressor down toward the passenger side, into a real FMIC, back up the drivers side into the intake, then build a ram air box into the nose.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

Morghen,
Okay, good points on the fuel mapping/ignition. Up to 10 psi without an intercooler, eh? Cool |

Fasteddie,
There is no way to rotate the compressor with my existing mounting arrangement. She's turned as much as possible.
I'm finish up in the garage and update tomorrow with findings. Thanks for your input. |

931 came like that from the factory with a heat-pumping turbo, similar CR, sufficient fueling and safe ignition curve. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

Okay in the true spirit of my "ebay turbo kit" build, tonight I was indeed able to finalize on running the front mount intercooler that came with my kit. The 2.5" diameter pipes are crazy long, so I expect it'll be somewhat laggy but it is what it is (for now). |
