|
|
apparently classic9 no longer makes 924/944 sets, the only place I'm really finding is World Upholstery & Trim and Stockinteriors.com. My 924 will be a driver, so I'm fine with "decent" quality carpet, so that's not a big deal.
My main question is as to years. Stockinteriors has a 924 carpet for a '79 to 82 924 but no other 924 carpet is listed. I assume those are the early years with full-size spare tire (which I actually may want, since I'd prefer a full-size spare for long road trips).
Else, it has early and late options for the 944.
I'm guessing the late 924S interior is essentially identical to the early 944, right? So if I get the mini-spare carpet set, I'd just go with an early 944 fitament. But would the early 924 set fit fine other than the spare bump? _________________ '88 924S (Project)

Hi all. I have the same delima, please respond.
I have an '88 924s. Pre molded carpet is available only for the following:
79-82 924
83-87 944
I don't have a 944 or early 924 available to make a comparison.
Does anyone know if either of the above will fit my car? |

I have 87 924s carpets in my 79 924
the only issue I found was the center console has a big cut where the cassette holder goes.
The solution was simply to find a cassette holder and bolt it there.
Aside from that everything went in fine without issues, holes aligned correctly. _________________ 1979 924 NA |

I tried fitting the hatch carpet from my 1980 924 into my 1987 924S to see if it would fit before I bought an early carpet set.
The hatch carpet is close, but not the same. The main issue is the left side where the storage compartment well is. The early carpet is wider than the late hatch area. This is due to the electric sunroof mechanism located behind the carpet on this side. Other than that, it's mostly minor differences. The snaps on the back right below the hatch line up fine.
I suppose you could cut the hatch carpet down, but you would probably want to finish the cut edge somehow. You would have to cut off a few inches if you don't want the carpet to curl up the side of the hatch area.
My late carpet is completely shot but I can probably take a couple side by side or overlap photos with the early carpet if you want to see the differences. _________________ 1980 924 NA, US model

I have some of the carpet from an '87 924S that I turned into a race car.
I think I have the front pieces, and maybe some others, in black.
They seem to be in decent shape.
I'll take some pictures if you are interested. _________________ 1987 924S SPEC car

I don't know if this helps but my '79 924 came with the space saver spare, not full size. _________________ 1979 924 Alpine White (in pieces) owned since '82
