I'm assuming that the control arms for the 1980 931 are NLA? If so what do folks do when they replace them?

I feel my options are:

1) Refurbish the arms I have w/ fresh ball joins and bushings
2) Use the later style control arms and swap over to the later style sway bar

I would rather keep the original sway bar, but I would also prefer to use new control arms.

turbo arms are available to buy new, but way more expensive than stock 924 with only the key difference being the ARB mounting. Either suck up the cost new, or buy 924 versions without the mounting, cut off from the old arms and weld onto the new. Everything else is renewable too. All from your Porsche Centre or parts store. Well certainly in the UK/Europe!

For some reasons I didn't think of that, but cutting off the ARB mounting and welding it on the new ones would work as well. I appreciate the suggestion.

As for the availability of the correct control arms, well all of my normal parts vendors don't have them. I have not called the dealer yet, but I suppose I can call and see if they can get them.

If yours are not bent or too badly rusted then just pull them off, sand blast and re-paint or powder coat. New bushes and ball joints and they will be like new.

If you want to get fancy then aft3r sand blasting get them boxed before painting for some added strength.

I almost bought new arms but ended up just blasting and repainting the originals. Here is a pic of a refurbed arm. I was advised 'after' the stainless epoxy coating application that I could have boxed them.

New everything and also drilled and threaded the bushing locations for grease fittings

Neat with the easy greasing. Needs to be done once in a while to keep them smooth. I would rather not box my arms, rather get a bent arm than bend the body.

Haha, probably the cheapest option of them all, i highly recommend it but for a car who sees track duty you never know
