I am in agreement with keeping it simple and easy to use. I have a style loaded now that is pretty close to the current one. Each user can also change to whatever style they like in their control panel. I will probably load a few more styles so everyone can pick what they like.

I will try and pretty up the header, I can probably add the rotating gallery as well. If anyone knows of a plugin that may be cool or useful let me know and I will get it installed.

I really like this stuff, so please message me if you have any input.

Got a few more forums added as well, will do some more tomorrow.

-Charles

That's not so bad, you get a nice magazine...you get to read it and hold it in your hand
I also attended two of their big events and it was really worth my years membershim. For you its more difficult I agree...but you could fly over here and we could drive there in my 924s when big events are taking place like the 92Forty was.

But I agree, this board needs to stay exactly like it is right now...just make image uploading and hosting easier.
I'm not interested to change the styles or in the fact that every user can customize the look of the board, I'm interested that it stays like it is.
Not trying to be an ingrate asshole here but by now this board is like the 924, a classic

Anyway, I tested the new board and it has loads of buttons, not exactly nice but ok...we could work with that.
What about the storage? what about image ownership? how does that work?
Any user can upload any amount of files to the board?
What are the mechanics of that system?

@peterld you have to register. It is a separate board.

I have 100gb of storage right now. If we really move to everyone over I would upgrade the plan. We would not have to worry about space for images.

In initial research I don't think hosting will be much of an issue.I'll look at it more today. We will need some cash flow though.

The new board does not have anything extra added, no plugins. That is the newest version of phpbb. It comes with some buttons! You can actually favorite posts and subscribe and then find them in your control panel!

I added a knowledge base to the new board. That will make it easier to find how to articles etc... You must register and log in to see it. No articles yet.

The other forums are in place that pretty much mirror this site. I took a little liberty in reformatting a couple things.

Hosting cost is really not much of an issue. If we collected $1 a year from members it would be plenty. Or a $5 lifetime membership.

I'll reach out to Peter and see what he thinks.

Can you increase the file size allow for avatar?
I can not use the one I'm currently using here because the file size is too large.

Just make it equal or slightly larger that the size allow here, this way we can use the same avatar we use here.
Thanks

The pixels size and file extension allow are also a problem.

I successfully upload my avatar, but I had to reduce the size to a maximum of 90 pixels x 90 pixels and save it as .png file extension as it does not accept .jpg (JPEG).

Also, I like the look and feel of the "Basic" board style, very close to here.
Could you work on the top banner, right now it show "phpBB".
Could you replicate the top banner that we have here?

Thanks

Guys, there is only 7 members on what is potentially the new 924Board.
We need more members to create an account, try it and report here on what you like, don't like or want to change.

This is your chance to voice your opinions.

I changed avatar dimensions to 150x150 allowed. There is not a file type restriction that I can find. I'll keep checking. The basic style does not behave like it should and it ignores the logo off. I'll look for a similar style that behaves better.

I'll work on the top banner, but the links probably won't show the same, just the version changes.

The basic style is built with a different type style sheet. I do like that one a little better. I will play with it.

Is there an auto resize on avatar and pic upload? That is a convenient feature on many boards, and could save data amount. One board i am active on have a restrictive pic size which makes it a pain since you have to manually fiddle with all your pics to get them small enough. Things like this must be super quick.

It's not native in phpbb, but I think there may be a plugin. I'll check.
