Finally got myself a Series II 931! Not registered since 2001, but started up fine yesterday. Idled for a while nicely, but with some smoke out the tail pipe, which is no surprise. Looks very complete and correct, according to my friend who knows more about these than I do right now.
I see Vaughn's write up in 931 tech. It's a dark gray 1981 with brown / tan-ish interior. I'll try to post some pics. Can we still not post pics directly to this board?

Very nice, you cant host pics on this board.
I hope you changed the timing belt or if you did not, you will do it before you turn the engine again.

Thanks guys. The last guy who owned it was a mechanical engineer and a tinkerer. he did the timing belt, deleted the failed fuel pump in the gas tank, and a bunch of other nice things. The paint is rough, but the body is nice with just 2 small dents and a door ding. It just sat for a long time, being started every once in a while. Odo shows 63,000. Could be 163,000. Not sure. But, not bad for $1500.
...and it was even on non-op status at the DMV, so no registration back fees from 2001. YIKES!
