Would anyone on this forum know if 924S rocker panels are interchangeable with 944 rocker panels?

Thanks

So no one knows if a 944 rocker panel will fit or work on a 924S body without modifications?

What do you mean by rocker panels? If you're refering to the lower door sill, the 944 body skin begins to flare aft of the door, and is an integral part of the monocoque (well, it's all spot welded together). So how much of the 924 door sill you could use is going to depend on where you need to graft it in.

Thank you for the reply. I need to replace the rocker panel, (the metal portion under the door sill), from the point where the front fender ends to a point about 6" behind the jacking point indentation due to sheet metal cancer and rust. If I understand you correctly then I believe I could use the portion you described from an early 944. Any thoughts?

Thanks again,
Rick

No, because the rear fender starts to arch out. You will want to find a section from a 924 or 924S (ideally, not a 931). I have a 924S carcass that is in excellent shape and would be a good candidate for cutting out the piece you need. The challenges will be A) me finding time to do it; and B) figuring out how to get it to you. However, if you were willing to come to Ideola's Garage (perhaps an upcoming Fourth Friday), you could have the piece you need in exchange for helping me cut up the rest of the carcass.

That's a very tempting offer! Thank you.

The offer will remain open for as long as the carcass is sitting here
