Hello,

I had a '79 euro 924 2.0 NA with a broken in-tank pump. By broken I mean completely clogged, I can't even explain how fuel managed to get through and to the external pump.

Replacements were so expensive and I was unlikely to pay 80€ for a 928 strainer so, I figured out a cheaper way to get a working strainer.

We begin with:

- a broken in-tank pump
- alcohol and cloth
- Cold welding kit

First, we have to strip the whole pump off. We're going to throw away everything except of the filter and the part that gets bolted to the tank (credits to larchie, I couldn't take this pic):







Now, we've to clean thoroughly the filter end and the inner pipe. We're going to put some cold welding there and it must be clean.



We've to mix the cold welding and put it on the filter side. Press gently, put some tape and let it dry for 24 hour:





After that, we will have a fuel strainer for no cost, consisting of the former pump filter and the former pump output. It's not going to break since cold welding claims to handle up to 120kg/cm3, and It won't dissolve even submerged in actual fuel.
