Hello guys, I have a 88 924s that had a snapped timing belt while driving. As an interference engine, I worry of bent valves And a ton of money going to be spent (BTW my dad did it not my fault). Since I have not yet looked under the valve cover to actually inspect the damage, I'm looking for advice and help.
What could be broken and needs replacing without looking first?
What would you do.
And to inspect, can I leave the engine in or do I have to take it out.
Tia any constructive help appreciated. |

Sorry for your loss.
Bent valves, possibly damaged pistons and rod bearings.
No need to remove the motor, used heads are cheap and are usually all that needs to be replaced.
In regards to blaming your dad, which one of you is responsible for properly maintaining the car? When was a front of engine service done last? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Thank you for the response! It's his car that we barely used because 80% of it being in our position has not run. I just got into cars so I know understand the importance of car maintenance. The belt broke around December of 2014 and I plan on trying to fix her up. |

Naturally! I have a timing belt kit that comes with a tension, pump etc. But I'll look into the others also, I'll probably inspect the engine within the couple days to see the real deal |

Lots of great videos on YouTube. Being new to these cars you might not know but the 944s also had the 2.5 engine. Most 944 videos also cover the 924S. _________________ 87 924S |
