How much play may a wastegate valve guide have ?

I asume it can have more play then a valveguide of the cilinder head because in the wastegate it is not oil cooled/ lubricated.

Can you buy a new valve guide somewhere?

Good question

Not that I've found

If you take the wastegate apart, be aware that the big fiber gasket between the upper and lower housings is not available anywhere and you'll need to make your own.

I hade one with several millimeters of play. Good from a heat expansion point of view, it certainly didnīt stuck. But longlivety of the membrane suffered.

The WG valve is slow moving compared to the valvetrain , no risk of wear or seat damage due to misalignment from valveguide wear.

If you can't get one anywhere maybe I can make them. I have made valve guides before (reliably saw 11000+k in a ducati) and I am currently doing it now on a 931 head

I'll see if I can find my disassembled wastegate today (the one where the previous owner used high temp silicon to repair the diaphragm )

I never found a spec, but mine was quite loose as well. Head rebuilder fabbed a guide.

I would love to be able to offer these as part of my rebuild kit. What do we need to do to make this happen?

Take that back, looked back at an old thread and apparently spec is .003?

I'll measure everything and make one up. It would be nice to measure it before and after install so we know how the install tightens things up. Once we are all satisfied, it should be good to go.

Here is a manganese bronze valve guide I made up for a Ducati

Mike, I have countless spare wastegates. Are you coming to Fourth Friday this afternoon? You can take one or two back with you for dissection and experimentation.

Not really I am on facebook only by proxy and I wasn't updated. I check every now and then and simply missed it.

I knew Dan wanted to do this but I figured in the Spring. He started early and I like the idea
