You mention this is a 1979 931. Not sure if you saw the post in the main section about the oldest 931. Might you share the chassis number with us? A 5 lug US spec 1979 could be one of the press cars.

Slow progress on the project,we are very busy at the shop.
I got some more parts GT-racing rear Le Mans style quarter panels, tow hooks and door mirrors.
Also got few parts from Dan: motor mounts,ARP rod bolts and solid lifter set.
Now I have decent collection of parts, have to figure out some time to work on it-that is the hard part .....

That makes it an '80.
Did someone title it as a '79?

Obviously not your first time at the rodeo. Great build!

The governing body down here (CAMS) has a few different rules than yours (SCCA?) in regards to ROPS. You have a slight bend to the tubes across the roof?

Would love to put the diagonal bracing on the main hoop as low as you have yours, we need 100mm clearance here.

We build that cage as close as possible to the original GTR, we collected many pictures and watched all of the videos....It was hard to make it look the same. Only difference is, we added extra bar to the drivers side for improved safety. Roof panel was removed to have access to the top of the tubes. We used Chromoly tubing and everything is TIG welded.

Yeas I built few cars before...

That was my last vintage race car. Very fun car to race !

Your experience is evident. Nice job going to the effort of taking the roof off to get the TIG in. I see you upgraded from the MIG in the 510.

I am currently building a cage for my racer with a MIG, any tips?
