Happy and Healthy Holidays One and All
Some of you may know from my previous post that I am replacing the vacuum lines and other hoses under the Intake Manifold. This is a specific question so I thought I should start a new thread. On my car, both outlets on the Idle Control Valve are 19 MM. These hoses connect with the J Boot and the bottom of the Intake Manifold (the “S” hose). Unfortunately, on my car the J Boot and IM connections are 13MM. Are these special order items?
I tried taking a piece of 13 MM silicone hose and heating it, hoping it would stretch to fit the 19MM opening on the ICV. The silicone hose split. Would rubber 13 MM hose stretch to fit if I heated it, better than silicone?
Thanks for your help.
Oh the Pumpkin Sage Ravioli...that is my contribution to Thanksgiving Dinner this year. Along with wrenching on my car, I am comfortable on an induction cooktop and a convection oven.

Thanks Paul.
The S hose under the IM looks tough to connect. Very little room. Any helpful hints? _________________ 1961 356 Cabriolet

Check Lindsey Racing for the hoses.
Frankly all that stuff is easier to change with the manifold off. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Manifold is off. Injectors off to WitchHunter.
Rasta--do you think I should clean the ICV? If so, what would you use.
Thanks,

Maybe Vaughan will chime in...he works for the manufacturer!
If the idle valve looks ok, it probably is, but if you want to clean it, I'd use some TB cleaner followed by compressed air. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I think the ICV works as it should. The car developed rough idle when cold. It only started when the weather got cooler. Once at operating temp, the car ran fine. I know Porsche induction systems are sensitive to vacuum, and I attributed it to 30 year old vacuum hoses. That's why I started down this path. I also wanted to send the fuel injectors out for new seals, etc.
Could the ICV be malfunctioning ? _________________ 1961 356 Cabriolet

There is a procedure on Clark's for setting the air bypass screw. Once that is correct, the ICV should be able to maintain idle within specs.
Bad run while cold could also be engine temp sensor. They do fail, and are easy and cheap to change. _________________ Toofah King Bad
